Pro-independence groups debate approaches to status issue
Puerto Rico Daily Sun, the island’s English-language newspaper, interviewed Movimiento Socialista de Trabajadores‘ spokesperson Hugo Delgado-Marti on the plebiscite to be held concurrent with the 2012 elections in Puerto Rico.
He was quoted as saying:
“Attending the electoral colleges is to admit that this government has options for workers and we do not believe that is the case,” MST spokesperson Hugo Delgado said in a telephone interview with the Daily Sun. “To destroy the plebiscite ballot and then vote for (PDP) Alejandro García Padilla is not an option; that is how we interpret the approach of other pro-independence groups.”
